Custom & Contract Molding
The Difference "Custom" and "Contract" injection molding are often intermixed terms in the plastics industry and sometimes rightly so. Old-timers in the industry will tell you the difference is that "Contract" work applies whenever "big money" needs to be invested. While this is largely correct, the two terms are usually differentiated by who owns the tool.
Custom Plastic Injection Molding In custom molding, the buyer owns the tool
Contract Plastic Injection Molding In contract molding, the molder owns the tool until terms of the contract are met.
API's Custom & Contract Molding Services API services both types of injection molding needs. The custom style is more commonplace, yet contract can be very effective for large joint interest projects.
